
Highest grossing Malayalam movies in history

Mollywood has always been one of the best industries in the world of Indian cinema due to its story value and popularity. But it is a fact that Malayalam being a vernacular language, the commercial benefits of Malayalam films are limited. But overcoming all these limits, today Malayalam movies are having worldwide releases and are getting maximum collections at the box office.
According to the statistics, only two Malayalam films have collected more than 100 crores worldwide. Pulimurugan, released in 2016, is the first film in Mollywood that has entered the 100 crore club. Directed by Vysakh starring Mohanlal, the film is produced by Tomichan Mulakuppadam under the banner of Mulakuppadam Films. According to estimates, the film earned Rs 141.6 crore.

Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran starring Mohanlal, is another Malayalam movie that has entered the 100 crore club. The 2019 film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. According to the figures, the film earned a worldwide collection of Rs 127.4 crore. No other Malayalam movie has been able to reach the 100 crore club till now. However, several Malayalam films have made it to the 50 crore club.
Bheeshma Parvam directed by Amal Neerad starring Mammootty is the third highest grossing Malayalam film till date. Produced by Amal Neerad himself, the film collected Rs 87 crores. Kurup, directed by Srinath Rajendran and starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, is fourth in this list. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan himself under the banner of Wayfarer Films, the film collected Rs 81 crore. Premam, directed by Alphonse Putran and starring Nivin Pauly, is fifth in this list. Produced by Anwar Rasheed, the film collected Rs 77.1 crore.
